It seems alot of us are web designers these days. Through the development of the internet technology it has made web site design easier for everyone to have their say. We use online web design templates, we blog, we review, we have our own MySpace and Facebook web pages. It’s all good, the more information out there the better, so is the need for clean web designs that stand out from the crowd with quality of content rich pages.
I have followed web trends over the years and I admit to having made some lovely flash animation web sites (including the last Design Demons web site), which look great if your audience sticks around to see it, but doesn't deliver the raw content and information that we are hungry for in today's climate. We know what we want and we know within half a second if we want to stay on the particular web site just clicked on.
I am currently re-designing the Design Demons web site, its been two years since touching the old flash site so something needs to be done. I have been lucky in that most of the work I have been doing has been through word of mouth and so the need for an all singing and dancing portfolio site hasn't really been there.
I do have quite a bit of traffic coming off the sites I have designed so a new design and a rethink of all the services I provide is always a good idea.
Its not easy designing your own site, I find other peoples sites alot easier to do for some reason.. I have been locked away for sometime now and haven't had much of a life since I started this project, its the best way though, I want to get it done by the new year.
Spending time on my own site has taught me new things as does every site I make. I have been looking further into SEO and finding new tips and tricks along the way, once the site is finished I will be looking at improving my poor Google rank of just two.
My main keyword is "web design" which scores a difficulty rating of 72%, I have challenged myself to get this site on the first 2 to 3 pages. Which considering the 1000's of other web design sites out there will be tough.
